There are so many things to consider when putting your home on the market: which real estate agent to work with, what repairs need to be completed, photos, showings…Selling your home, while exciting, is a good deal of work, allowing one very important detail to often be overlooked. How does your home make potential buyers feel? The atmosphere you create when showing your home can make a huge difference.
Most people have a strong emotional connection with the place they call home, and since our sense of smell is closely linked to our memory and emotions, I called on my team to put together a list of their favorite oils to diffuse when potential buyers take their tours. But first,
Things to Consider:
- Consistency is important! Be careful about mixing too many different scents in different rooms. It’s best to choose one oil/ oil blend to diffuse throughout the entire home.
- Be considerate of people who have allergies that are triggered by scent. Usually something light with a citrus note is appropriate as these scents rarely trigger sensitivities and appeal to a wide audience.
- Consider the energetic vibration you want to create. Do you want to evoke excitement or a sense of comfort? Is it for a showing? Or for an offer? I’d make different choices based on what I was hoping to attract or achieve.
Now, on to the oils!
Bergamot – is known as the sunshine oil, perfect to lift mood & spirits and raise the frequencies and energy of the home.
Wild Orange – is the oil of abundance, so this was a common refrain among my team! This oil will energize and revitalize while it purifies the air in the home. Can you see why this one is a favourite?
Lemongrass – Another popular choice for its clean, refreshing aroma, lemongrass also naturally repels insects so it’s especially useful on open house days when the doors will be opening and closing throughout the day!
Purify – this is the ultimate cleansing blend, perfect to (as the name of the blend suggests) purify and freshen the air, leaving the home with a comforting, clean feel!
